Dak To

Picture on left shows inside the basecamp at Dak To-Christmas Day 1969.  In the foreground are rolls of consentina wire, which was stretched out around the perimeter of the camp.

The picture to the right, taken about the same time, shows the effect of the monsoon rains.

While in Dak To, the motor pool for the 538th LCC was right next to the fuel depot, where the helicopters fueled up.  When the Cobras came in they were in a "stacked formation", one slightly higher than the other. Once fueled, they would fly off, and the next would come in.
These pictures were taken of a Cobra that got too close to the one ahead of him.
The wreckage was eventually taken off by a Huey helicopter.
